3:05Now PlayingAmerican taxpayers could effectively contribute about $2,358 each toward President Donald Trump's mass deportation campaign, according to a new Cost of Deportations Calculator released by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). The tool estimates the federal government will spend about $268.9 billion on deportations during Trump's second term, drawing on funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, budget reconciliation measures, regular appropriations and other federal allocations.
According to the analysis, the projected deportation budget could instead fund more than 118 million additional SNAP recipients over the remainder of Trump's term, nearly 12 million Medicaid beneficiaries or low-cost public housing for more than 9.7 million households.
