19:30Now PlayingMillions of people across Europe looked skyward on August 12 as a rare total solar eclipse crossed Iceland, northern Spain and parts of Portugal. It was Europe’s first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Spain in more than a century, drawing huge crowds to viewing locations.
The Moon completely blocked the Sun along a narrow path, while much of Europe, including Italy, witnessed a partial eclipse. The spectacle created dramatic darkened skies and stunning views of the solar corona. The event also became a major tourism draw, with crowds gathering across Spain and other parts of the eclipse path.
