Erdogan accused Israel of continuing actions in the West Bank and Jerusalem and condemned alleged attacks and provocations involving Palestinian holy sites, including Al-Aqsa Mosque. Abbas stressed that lasting peace requires an end to the occupation and an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also praised the recent Saudi Arabia-Turkey-Pakistan defence agreement. The meeting comes amid renewed international efforts over Gaza, including proposals involving Hamas disarmament, Israeli withdrawal and an international stabilization force.
