8:07Now PlayingThe United States recently announced “Economic D-Day" maximum-pressure campaign against Iran, but experts feel it is mainly linked to China. The campaign against Iran, they say, will fail unless the Trump administration aggressively targets China, which purchases roughly 90% of Iran’s oil exports. Washington has warned of the “toughest sanctions in history" alongside an active naval blockade to physically stop Iranian trade. Under this threat, any international bank, shipping company, or foreign corporation found facilitating Iranian oil exports, handling its trade transactions, or aiding in money laundering will be entirely banned from utilizing the U.S. dollar and stripped of access to the American financial market.
China serves as Iran’s primary economic buffer, importing an average of 1.4 million barrels of Iranian crude per day through independent “teapot" refineries despite nominal restrictions.
