4:52Now PlayingSpanish activist of Palestinian origin, Saif Abukeshek, arrived in Barcelona on Sunday after spending 10 days in Israeli custody following the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla heading to Gaza, during which he was detained alongside another crew member. Footage shows Abukeshek arriving at the airport, where he was welcomed by a crowd of supporters who embraced him and celebrated his arrival. They listened to his words about his time in detention and chanted songs in his honour.
"The biggest concern we have is for the thousands and thousands of Palestinian prisoners left behind, left without defence, tortured and raped continuously. While being in this interrogation centre, I could hear daily screams caused by the torture being inflicted by Israeli agents," Abukeshek reflected. The activist also said that Israel continues to deny the existence of Palestine and expressed his gratitude to the lawyers and supporters who campaigned and mobilised for his release.
