According to police, bike-borne attackers intercepted Rath’s vehicle near Doltala and opened fire at point-blank range before fleeing. Adhikari alleged the assailants conducted prior reconnaissance and claimed post-poll violence against BJP workers was continuing across the state. He said he had spoken to Amit Shah and BJP leadership regarding the incident, while urging party workers to maintain peace as the investigation continues.
