YouTube Description
as posted by the channelMaven shares an intensely personal faith journey out of Mormonism in a compelling video interview. She describes how experiences with excessive guilt and doubt led her to question core LDS teachings. Attending church schools surfaced further questions on race, gender roles, and the nature of eternity.
Seeking assistance when struggling financially, she was shamed by LDS welfare services, contrasting sharply with the non-judgment she found at a secular agency. Her patriarchal blessing brought little comfort as she realized she was asexual in a church focused on marriage and family. Feeling broken, lost and alone, the foundations of her once sturdy faith began to crack.
The final straw was an essay disavowing past racism that apologized for everything while changing nothing. In that moment her belief structure collapsed as she recognized it had been built on sand. The loss was deeply felt, but with it came liberation. Reflecting on women like Helen Mar Kimball who were coerced by early leaders, Maven committed to amplifying feminine voices and seeking truth. Shedding organized religion, she blossomed into her own woman with a driving purpose - to dance, to question, to understand, and to share her journey so that others might find validation in their own.
