Whether they need abortion care for a miscarriage, for postpartum care, a complication, or simply for an unintended pregnancy– as is the case for the majority of abortions– abortion is healthcare. As Sarah Elaine Harrison, a Texas-based attorney and author of a recent New York Times opinion piece entitled “Both My Abortions Were Necessary. Only One Gets Sympathy.,” explains, “it is not a protection of family values to deny women the right to the healthcare that they need.”
