as posted by the channelHomeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Monday that the administration is ending temporary protected status (TPS) for Afghans after determining that "conditions in Afghanistan no longer meet the statutory requirements" for the designation, her department said in a news release.
The Biden administration had granted Afghan refugees protected status to allow them to remain in the country temporarily after Afghanistan's fall to the Taliban.
The temporary protected status for Afghanistan is set to expire on May 20 and the termination goes into effect on July 12. the release said.
