Rep. LaMonica McIver appeared in court Wednesday on federal charges stemming from a confrontation at an ICE facility in New Jersey. During her first appearance, the judge released her on her own recognizance.

On #MorningJoe, Rep. LaMonica McIver called the charges “absurd” and accused the Trump administration of “political intimidation,” saying she was there for a routine oversight visit — not to “break in and break out detainees.”

A preliminary hearing, which the judge stressed would occur in person, was scheduled for June 11.
