6:31Now PlayingThis past week, President Trump unveiled a new migrant detention center in the Florida swamplands he calls “Alligator Alcatraz.” In the facility, hastily constructed in mere days, the administration plans to hold about 3,000 undocumented migrants. The area’s harsh conditions are a feature, not a bug. Trump and his allies have joked about migrants being eaten by alligators from the nearby swamps. The far-right provocateur and Trump ally Laura Loomer made a reference to the alligators consuming 65 million people, a number that’s also the total Hispanic population of the U.S. And, of course, the Florida GOP is also selling merch.
