The Rev. Jesse Jackson, the longtime civil rights activist, Baptist minister and two-time presidential candidate, died Tuesday, his family said.

Rev. Al Sharpton, a longtime friend of Rev. Jackson, joined Morning Joe to reflect on his life and legacy, calling him a leader who “helped change American politics” and expanded civil rights, from reshaping presidential primaries to carrying forward Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s work.
