YouTube Description
as posted by the channelSubscribe to Never Miss Crime Stories with Nancy Grace! Susan Smith, a mom of 2 toddler boys, Michael and Alex, calls police—hysterical, claiming a black man carjacked her, taking off with her children in the back seat. For 9 days, Smith publicly begs for their safe return. Behind the scenes, Union County Sheriffs and SLED agents administer several polygraph tests on Smith, each returning an inconclusive result. 10 days after Michael and Alex were ‘kidnapped,’ Smith admits she let her car roll down a boat ramp at John D. Long Lake, with the children inside. Authorities suspected Smith hurt the children from the beginning, noticing that her concern was focused on new boyfriend, Tom Findlay, instead of the missing boys. Smith had been dating Findlay for several months, but Findlay had distanced himself from Smith, Smith believing the primary reason being Findlay not wanting children. In 1995, Smith was convicted of the murders of her two sons and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 30 years. Smith’s first parole eligibility is Nov. 24th, 2024, and many believe she should remain incarcerated. Smith has been disciplined a number of times behind bars, twice for sleeping with prison guards and three times for possessing drugs. Smith also spent months corresponding with a long-distance boyfriend, discussing ‘building a life’ together if she’s freed from prison. Nancy Grace hosts a panel of experts to analyze if Smith is really a ‘changed woman’ or if her behavior behind bars indicates, “She doesn’t deserve to get her life back,” as a family member of Smith’s has stated.
