as posted by the channelDaniel Macias enjoys the downtown Athens nightlife scene, but on Saturday, August 13th, he forgoes a night on the town. Macias leaves his job at a local restaurant, crossing the street to a store. While inside, Macias gets a phone call, sets his purchase items down, and walks out. Macias continues the conversation as he walks to his car. The call lasts 7 minutes. Just after Macias hangs up, the sound of 5 gunshots rings out.
Daniel Macias collapses in a bed of landscaping mulch. A witness calls 911 while two men chase the gunman. The perp picks up the pace and outruns the good Samaritans. Police on foot and riding bikes canvass the area all night, knocking on doors and looking in the woods, but the gunman is gone.
There has been no arrest in the murder of Daniel Macias. Investigators say there are no suspects in the murder and detectives do not have a motive.
