The Supreme Court will rule on a case brought by the Trump administration that could end birthright citizenship. Birthright citizenship means that any person born in the United States is a U.S. citizen, a precedent established in the 14th amendment. The 14th amendment was passed just after the civil war and includes a clause guaranteeing citizenship to freed slaves and their descendents.
