While the city’s drinking water meets federal safety standards, some people that NBC News spoke with do not trust their tap water. Yamiche Alcindor talks to residents about their frustration and growing mistrust over the situation. EPA Administrator Michael Regan tells NBC News “unfortunately we have waited too long” to invest in water infrastructure. Last September, a boil water advisory was issued after E. coli was found in the water in three locations in West Baltimore. Baltimore City’s infrastructure czar tells NBC News that the city “desperately” needs federal support for improvements. The city’s tap water meets federal safety standards, but some residents don’t trust it – and their frustration and their bills keep growing.
