In the fall of 2019, President Donald Trump ordered the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the northern Syrian border, effectively abandoning longtime allies the Kurds, and opening the door for a Turkish attack on the region and its people. NBC's Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel immediately dispatched to the frontlines where he was able to tap into extensive contacts to document the invasion and its aftermath. This program originally aired on November 17th, 2019. It was recognized with multiple awards, including the Peabody Award.
