In May of 2021, South Carolina police opened fire on a man sitting in his truck talking to his mother after being called to the scene for a wellness check. The man, Trevor Mullinax, survived, and has filed a lawsuit alleging the officers defaulted to “using deadly force.” WCNC’s Kayland Hagwood reports.
