2:00Now PlayingPolice say Joshua Riibe, an American tourist from Iowa, was with Sudikhsa Konanki just before she vanished. While police say no suspects have been identified in Konanki’s disappearance, Riibe’s lawyers say he has been confined to his hotel and escorted by police everywhere he goes. Now, a source in the Dominican Republic’s attorney general’s office tells NBC News that Riibe’s lawyers have filed a petition for habeas corpus, which is generally used to argue for release from detention. NBC News’ Jesse Kirsch reports from the Dominican Republic.
