A fan wants to know what effects GMO food has on human beings. According to Bill Nye, that’s one area where we actually do have excellent data. But even though that data shows GMO food has been scientifically proven to have no more negative effects on humans than non-GMO food, GMO food has been shown to be more nutritious with higher crop yields, which is news to co-host Chuck Nice. Bill says there are issues with GMOs, though, like the increasing use of monoculture farming, which leads to a loss of diversity across multiple vectors, and the impact and increased stress on pollinators that monoculture can lead to. Plus, Bill lays out some of the issues with Roundup Ready crops and glyphosate.
