An Australian tourist has been stabbed and robbed of thousands of dollars at a popular Thai destination.

Pattaya Police reported that an Australian man took two acquaintances to a hotel room, but the alleged encounter with his “new friends” turned into an armed robbery. One of the offenders allegedly used scissors to stab the man in his body and shoulder, leaving him bloodied and in shock, before stealing $6,000 from him. The Bangkok Post reported the man — named by the outlet as Alikosh Ghulam, 45 — believed the two people were women and invited them to his room on Monday.
