YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIn Santa Claus, Indiana, the Christmas spirit is celebrated year-round. But for 87-year-old Pat Koch, there is nothing more important than her work as chief elf, where she oversees a group of volunteer elves writing back to nearly 25,000 people each year who have sent in their heartfelt letters to Santa. “Santa Claus is timeless,” Koch told the Post. “Santa Claus is a spirit.” A spirit Koch and her elves are keeping alive. Letters to Santa have been pouring into the Santa Claus, Indiana, Post Office from all over the US and the world since 1930 when a Ripley’s Believe It or Not cartoon appeared in the paper, putting the small midwest town on the map. The tradition of letter-writing began with Koch’s father, known in town as “Santa Jim." All of Santa's elves' operations are made possible by kind donations.
