Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski’s next season will be his last, Stadium reported Wednesday, as the 74-year-old has decided to retire after the 2021-2022 campaign.
The Hall of Famer is entering his 42nd season as head coach of the Blue Devils, who have won five national championships and 15 ACC championships under his watch. Krzyzewski has been a head coach since 1975, when he led Army for five seasons before taking over at Duke.
Former Duke guard and current assistant Jon Scheyer is expected to replace Krzyzewski in 2022, according to multiple reports. Scheyer is responsible for recruiting former Duke stars Jayson Tatum and Zion Williamson, among others.
