3:22Now PlayingIt’s a high-end retail experience for shoppers partaking in the Garden State’s newly launched recreational marijuana law. One “adult use” customer told The Post’s Kevin Sheehan that the experience at Ascend Cannabis in Rochelle Park, New Jersey, reminded him of a fancy candle store. Along with that comes upscale prices: $65 plus tax for what smokers could get from a local dealer for $25.
Regulations under the new law, which New Jerseyans voted on and passed on Nov. 3, 2020, include purchases coming in “very smart lookin bags … all glued super tight,” Sheehan said. There’s also a maximum amount each customer can buy each visit. Dispensaries opened on April 21, 2022 — not 4/20, which is known as the High Holiday for pot lovers — in order to avoid a mad rush on stores.
