One of his staffers, Christopher Baugh, was robbed at gunpoint while location-scouting for Hizzoner near the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The two-man mugging occurred in broad daylight on a weekday at a spot with no cameras. Our host, Kevin Sheehan, called it a “tipping point” when a member of the mayor’s team is being targeted because they’re not “walking around with armed guards.”
This comes as the Big Apple is seeing a 30-year high in crime. Major crimes are up 37.8% compared to last year, according to the NYPD. Mayor Adams’ new press secretary, Fabien Levy, said in a statement: “Chris [Baugh] works hard for the city every day, and he deserves to be safe while conducting his job, just like every other New Yorker.”
