0:38Now PlayingUS Capitol Police evacuated the Senate office building in Washington, DC, Wednesday after receiving reports of a possible active shooter.
“Our officers are searching in and around the Senate Office Buildings in response to a concerning 911 call,” the department tweeted at 2:45 p.m.
Police asked everyone inside to shelter in place, although reports of gunshots were not confirmed.
The city’s Metro Police Department said the active shooter report “appears to be a bad call,” no shooter was located and there were no injuries, according to Politico.
Senate staffers were seen flooding out of the Russell Senate Office Building in droves after the report — some with their hands in the air. Others looked visibly shaken as they huddled together outside.
Capitol Police said those sheltering in place should remain where they are at 3:43 p.m. About half an hour later, the agency said that all buildings have been cleared, but not opened.
