0:36Now PlayingThe Republican National Committee announced Friday that Houston, Texas would be the site of its 2028 presidential nominating convention.
“The entire RNC membership is eager to work with Governor Greg Abbott, Mayor Sylvester Turner, the Houston Host Committee, and Houston First Corporation to follow in Milwaukee’s footsteps by delivering an incredible convention for our Party,” RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement.
Abbott said he was “proud to welcome” the GOP event following the vote by the RNC’s 168 committee members to hold the convention in America’s fourth most-populous city.
“Houston showcases all the things that make Texas great: a strong business environment, record-breaking job growth, and a hub of entertainment and tourism,” the governor added.
