1:19Now PlayingHarrowing point-of-view footage captured the moment a Washington state deputy narrowly escaped last month’s deadly wildfire by driving straight “through hell on earth.”
The dramatic scene unfolded Aug. 18 as Spokane County Deputy Brittan Morgan had been advising residents to evacuate the Oregon Road area as the inferno barreled toward them.
He was in the midst of trying to convince one stubborn man to jump in his patrol car when he realized he was running out of time to save himself.
In the chaos, Morgan neglected to turn off his bodycam, offering the chance to see his determination to escape the “extraordinarily fast-moving and devastating wildfire,” the department said in a Thursday Facebook post that included the dramatic video.
“You’re not getting me today motherf–ker!” Morgan can be heard screaming as he desperately follows his fellow deputy’s flashing lights through the thick smoke.
“Eat my f–king hairy a–, fire!”
Through the patrol car windshield, flames and sparks can be seen licking Morgan’s speeding patrol car.
