as posted by the channelDonald Trump left Trump Tower Friday morning for Manhattan federal court where closing arguments are slated to get underway in the defamation damages trial brought against the former president by E. Jean Carroll.
Lawyers for Carroll and Trump are expected to deliver closing arguments for a jury -- which could begin deliberating later Friday.
Testimony wrapped Thursday after Trump, 77, took the witness stand for under three minutes to defend against claims by the "Ask E. Jean" advice columnist that he ruined her reputation by denying her sexual assault accusations when he was president.
The real estate mogul Thursday was kept on a tight leash by Judge Lewis Kaplan who put extreme limitations on what he was allowed to discuss on the stand.
Trump was already found liable in May 2023 of sexually assaulting Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman fitting room in 1996 and Kaplan also already found him liable for defamation so the jury is only deciding the damages, if any, that Trump must pay Carroll.
