0:32Now PlayingA large family was feared dead Thursday inside a suburban Philadelphia home that went up in flames after two cops were struck by gunfire while responding to the reported shooting of a young girl, officials said.
At least six to eight members of the family living inside the burning home in East Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, were unaccounted for overnight, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said.
“Our fear is there may be multiple people inside that home who have died,” he said.
The still-smoldering fire would be too dangerous to search fully until later Thursday, Stollsteimer said, noting that children were among those unaccounted for.
“It is our terrible fear that they may be inside that house when it was burned,” the DA said. “We are hopeful that that is not true.”
