as posted by the channelNational Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy said a team of 24 experts are in Baltimore to investigate the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
Homendy said during an NTSB press conference shortly before 3 p.m. that the voyage data recorder of the Dali ship will be a critical part of the investigation as they try to figure out what went wrong in the moments leading up to the collision.
The investigators will be focusing on the ship's data and the safety record and background surrounding the bridge.
The NTSB has yet to board the ship and is "standing back" to allow the US Coast Guard and law enforcement to continue their efforts searching for the missing people caught in the collapse.
Homendy also said that answers will not be immediately available, warning that such investigations can take years to conclude.
