A transgender weightlifter has sparked outrage after winning her first national competition – beating the woman who finished second by a combined 37 pounds.

Vicki Piper, 57, took first place in both her age and weight groups among women earlier this month at the Masters National Championships in Reno, Nevada, WPDE reported.

Piper lifted 123 pounds in the snatch and 156 pounds in the clean and jerk, for a combined 279 pounds, which bested her closest competitor. Krista Dornbush, by a combined 37 pounds, the outlet reported.
