Cuellar, a pro-life moderate who has been critical of President Biden’s handling of the border crisis, issued a statement shortly after NBC News reported that an indictment would be made public.
In the statement, Cuellar said he and his wife, Imelda, were “innocent of these allegations” and added that he had acted “consistent with the actions of many of my colleagues and in the interest of the American people.”
