0:29Now PlayingResearchers said they captured footage of a rare deep-sea squid as it attached itself to a camera at a depth of more than a kilometer in the Pacific Ocean.
This footage shows a deep-sea squid latching onto a free-fall baited camera.
Dr Jess Kolbusz, the researcher who can be heard speaking in this footage, said that the squid was estimated to be about 75cm long.
Kolbusz noted that the squid had two large photophores on the tips of its arms which produced bioluminescence. She said that these are the largest known photophores in the natural world.
