This could be a big with for the GOP, as the redistricting has reshuffled predominantly black, Democratic-leaning areas to increase South Carolina's District 1's Republican vote share by potentially more than 50%. This decision has implications for November's national election and control of Congress. The Supreme Court was split 6-3 along the court's ideological lines, with liberal justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissenting.
