A woman was incredulous when she saw her partner had accidentally brought a lizard back with him in his suitcase after a weekend in Spain.

Video by Jenny Legge shows the lizard next to a pair of socks after her partner’s return from a “lads’ weekend in Tenerife”.

“We initially jumped back and then I began to video what we thought was a lizard. We moved a few trainers to find a little gecko!” Legge told Storyful.

Legge put the critter, who had already survived a flight to Manchester, in a plastic vegetable steamer “knowing he would not survive in English temperatures,” she said.

Legge named the gecko Gary and wrote on TikTok that it would soon be moved to a new home with others of his kind.
