1:34Now PlayingFootage posted by a drone unit linked to the Armed Forces of Ukraine shows at least 36 Russian soldiers surrendering to Ukrainian forces who attacked a border checkpoint in Kursk Oblast, Russia, on Tuesday, August 6.
The footage depicts strikes on various buildings at the Sudzha border checkpoint, about 6 miles outside the town of Sudzha, before Russian soldiers are seen waving white flags and handing themselves over to Ukrainian troops.
The surprise raid into Kursk region was Ukraine’s largest incursion into Russian territory since the Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine more than two years earlier.
Ukraine’s military intelligence declined to comment on the incursion, according to Ukrainian reports. However, the Ukraine’s public broadcasting service, Suspilne and the Kremlin said the operation was being carried out by the Ukrainian military.
