0:59Now PlayingWhat is the future of paying rent? Bilt founder Ankur Jain believes people should get rewarded for handing over their hard-earned dollars to their landlord. He says the majority of tenants use “antiquated” payment methods, such as writing a check, missing out on benefits that come with similar big purchases, such as airline loyalty programs.
Bilt is also working with lenders, like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, to flip home-buying standards upside down. “Every month you pay your rent on time, it actually helps you qualify for a mortgage,” Jain explains. This comes as the median rent in New York City hits a staggering $4,100. Find out more with Lydia Moyhihan, financial correspondent for the New York Post, in this episode of “NYNext.”
