3:06Now PlayingFormer President Donald Trump announced his new in-vitro fertilization policy while touring the midwest Thursday night, telling a full crowd at a town hall in La Crosse, Wisconsin that “your government” will either pay for IVF treatment or mandate that insurance companies pay for it. NY Post reporter Amy Sikma shares this story.
“We want people to have babies,” Trump said to the roaring approval of the audience.
His comments came after former Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (I-HI), who was moderating the town hall, told the emotional story of her own unsuccessful IVF treatments while in Congress.
“I just know there are women or couples in this crowd, those watching tonight, going through this same struggle,” Tulsi said in front of the western Wisconsin crowd.
