1:30Now PlayingA downed tree was seen lying across a road in Hanoi as Typhoon Yagi wreaked havoc across northern Vietnam, killing four and injuring several on Saturday, September 7, local media reported.
The typhoon made landfall in the northern coastal provinces of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong on Saturday and was on a course towards the capital, Hanoi, according to Vietnam’s National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecast.
The NCHMF said the strongest winds near the storm center were measured at up to 82 mph, with gusts up to 114 mph.
Footage filmed by Italian journalist Paola Nurnberg shows worsening conditions in central Hanoi. A fallen tree can be seen across the road from Nurnberg’s hotel.
“A tree fell right after a bus was [waiting] there. Electric wires crashed and deserted streets,” she wrote on X.
