Harris in her 2020 campaign bragged about owning a handgun to project an image of her as a tough ex-prosecutor.
She has not mentioned being a gun owner since entering the White House in January 2021.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) fact-checked Kamala Harris after she promised to not confiscate Americans' firearms.
“Do you believe in the mandatory buyback of ‘assault weapons?’ And whether or not you do, how does that idea not go against fundamentally the Second Amendment?” an audience member at an episode of "The Tonight Show" asked in September 2019.
Harris was running for president at the time.
“Great question, I do believe we need to do buybacks,” she said.
