1:15Now PlayingMore than 60 people were rescued as floodwaters inundated a town in southwestern Poland on Sunday, September 15, police said.
Video posted to the Polish Police X account shows helicopters flying over flooded towns and emergency service workers airlifting residents to safety.
Polish Police said thousands of officers, including police pilots, firefighters, soldiers and rescuers, were trying to help those who had to leave their homes as a result of the floods. Authorities airlifted people from the roofs of flooded homes in the Opole province, according to the post.
Residents who were living in flood-prone areas were urged to remain calm, follow the orders of services and cooperate in the event of an evacuation.
At least four people had died, according to Polish media.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared a state of natural disaster and said funds were being prepared for emergency aid and damage mitigation.
