The Harris-Walz campaign initially expressed interest in trying to compete in Florida, but the vice president didn't spend much time there during the 2024 race. Democrats haven't won the Sunshine State in a presidential contest since 2012.
Scott had been slightly favored against Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, but the race was generally considered one of the tighter contests for an incumbent Republican senator this cycle.
