0:32Now PlayingA bush plane taking off from a remote location in Alaska on Sept. 26 collided with a flock of willow ptarmigan, Alaska’s state bird, leaving the outside of the aircraft covered in blood. Passenger Mark Schwantes said the flock "lingered a bit too long" on the runway and were struck by the propeller seconds after takeoff.
Despite the impact, the flight continued without incident and landed safely in Anchorage. "It's just one of those things you might see out here," said Schwantes.
