Footage captured by Stephanie Peterson shows Mangione, flanked by armed officers, being led from a helipad along the East River on Thursday afternoon.
Peterson and her friends can be heard talking excitedly in the background about Mangione. “This is wild,” one person says, while others say: “You’re doing great baby!” and “I love you!” as he walks. “If I knew, I would’ve made signs,” another person says in the video.
Mangione, 26, faces four federal charges, including murder using a firearm, for which the death penalty is among the potential punishments, reports said.
