Dramatic footage shows the moment an arson suspect was arrested in Azusa, California, on January 10, not far from the San Gabriel Mountains, where the destructive Eaton Fire started.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said the suspect, Jose Gerardo Escobar, allegedly tried to light on fire a large tree that had fallen in Pioneer Park.

Escobar is charged with one count each of felony arson, arson during a state of emergency, and attempted arson.

Footage posted by the district attorney’s office shows a police officer detaining a man while in front of them a fire burns.
