1:08Now PlayingLocals in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, took to the streets on January 28 to show support for the country’s military after the M23 rebel group claimed control of the city of Goma, on the opposite side of the vast country.
Footage from X user @NkongoloAllian1 shows demonstrators and burning tires in Kinshasa.
The source told Storyful that the demonstrators were gathered “to denounce the presence of the M23 attackers” in Goma.
Thousands have fled since January 23 as rebel fighters, supported by the Rwandan army, made their advance.
