1:43Now PlayingAn eyewitness who lives alongside the Potomac River described seeing a "big ball of fire" explode in the sky when a military helicopter collided with the American Airlines plane near Reagan Washington National Airport last night.
"I looked to the left and saw a big ball of fire and then wreckage just falling down towards the river," Roy Best told CNN early Thursday.
"My neighbor yelled out, 'Oh my God, it's a plane!'"
Best, who said he was on his building's rooftop at the time of the collision, added he was "still in shock this morning" as first responders desperately searched for survivors.
