0:26Now PlayingPassengers on a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York City were forced to deplane in Houston on Sunday, February 2, after a plane wing caught fire, video shows.
Footage captured by Ashlyn Sharp shows flames rising from the wing as passengers react in distress, followed by passengers deplaning on the George Bush Intercontinental Airport runway.
No injuries were reported, according to officials.
Local news, citing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials, reported that the plane “safely aborted its takeoff” due to a “reported engine issue.” Passengers were evacuated onto the runway and transported to the terminal by bus, officials said.
United Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement to USA Today.
The 104 passengers and five crew members were later reassigned to an afternoon flight.
The FAA was investigating the incident.
