1:01Now PlayingWild video shows the moment Matthew John Patrick Wells encountered a massive and very curious great white shark in his tiny kayak off the coast of Northland, New Zealand on Jan. 30.
Footage from the Wells shows the nearly 15-foot-long predator circling his small boat as he anxiously attempts to paddle away, only to be followed for eight full minutes. Wells escaped the encounter unscathed and later told Storyful: “I’m grateful I wasn’t on the menu this day.”
